Follow a 650b Build
December 2nd, 2008 by ArleighFor the past month and a half I’ve been following a slow build up process of a 650b Ebisu All Purpose. The build up and parts collecting is happening over at Franklyn’s Bike Garage. This multi-post story line started with Franklyn going to Jitensha Studio and getting sized for a custom bike. Down the road he decided on 650b wheels and the rest is history.

Just saw this. Thanks for posting here about my build. It’s only 2 months away now before the frame arrives. I have been trolling eBay for a couple of months now with little success in finding Velocity 650b 36h rims. I will probably get hetre tires, they simply look too cool.

Franklyn, QBP carries the velocity 650b rims which means that any local bike shop will be able to get them for you in a reasonable amount of time.
I am moping around on the rims because I haven’t decided whether to use velocity synergy or grand bois rims. They are both excellent, with the grand bois rims 20g heavier (which is no big deal) but looks more classic. I will certainly decide before the frame arrives. I already have the hubs; 36h ultegra 6600 rear hubs, and SON20 generator front hub, also 36h. I also will build up one non-dynamo front wheel with an used phil wood front hub.
